This position is based on-site at the Plymouth facility and is responsible for overseeing operations at the Oostburg facility.
Responsible for overseeing quality control of products at both Masters Gallery Foods facilities. Ensures compliance with quality standards, enforces guidelines for finished products, and supports the Vice President of Food Safety & Quality Systems in driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the education and training employees, including new hires, as to their impact in the quality management systems.
- Manage Quality and Sanitation staff and coordinate department scheduling for all facilities.
- Oversee extended run process for all facilities,
- Coordinate all quality programs for both facilities and oversee documentation is current.
- Oversee calibration and testing programs are being managed in all facilities.
- Periodically report on quality issues, trends, and losses as requested by management and manage KPI reporting.
- Maintain Quality meeting scheduling and facilitate as needed.
- Assist in identifying and resolving customer complaints related to quality products.
- Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to all personnel by understanding regulatory, customer, and internal quality requirements.
- Assist in implementing environmental control program throughout both plants.
- Oversee and assist in internal auditing programs for both facilities.
- Follow up on audit findings and verify implementations of appropriate corrective/preventive actions.
- Assist with all customer, regulatory, GFSI, and third-party audits.
- Help manage Food Defense and Intentional Adulteration programs.
- Monitor, review, and train internal employees as a PCQI - Preventative Controls Qualified Individual.
- Manage risk assessments for quality systems for all facilities.
- Maintain records related to recall and recovery/traceability.
- Work closely with Procurement, R&D, Production, Warehouse and Grading Department to make sure the right cheese is getting to the correct customer and specifications are readily available to the plant employees.
- Work with quality to manage Pest Control Program.
- Manage the traceability program along with testing the program regularly.
- Oversee the hold/positive release program with the assistance of the quality team and production.
- Provide continuous improvement, leadership, and coaching.
- Performance of other duties as assigned by the President and CEO, Executive Vice President and/or Vice President of Food Safety, Quality and Product Development.
Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor Degree in Food Science, Quality Systems, or related field or equivalent experience.
- Seven years of progressively responsible experience in a food safety/quality systems environment or equivalent experience preferred. Previous supervisory/managerial experience required.
- Advanced knowledge of a wide variety of food safety systems.
- Strong understanding of Preventative Controls, applicable FDA guidance, regulations and requirements.
- Strong understanding of HACCP concepts and their applications, including mandatory HACCP systems.
- Must be proficient in the identification, management, and resolution of risk relating to food safety and have excellent understanding of food safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to act as a direct liaison between general production and management regarding quality issues.
- Ability to assess cheese product performance and provide workable production solutions.
- Ability to assess quality and be firm in decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel for business purposes.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of the ERP computer system, RedZone Production Management, Specright and Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to problem solve and negotiate solutions under diverse conditions.
Hours/Employment Type: Full Time
