As Quality and Pathogen Lab Generalist, you will be responsible for monitoring quality control, analytical, microbiological, and environmental testing, and coordinating laboratory paperwork.

  • Perform pathogen testing on bulk cheese, finished product, and environmental samples.
  • Trend Masters Gallery Foods Environmental Monitoring program and other ongoing testing programs.
  • Perform microbiological and chemical testing on bulk cheese, ingredients, finished product, equipment, and the plant environment, including swabbing and testing.
  • Participate in proficiency testing and split sample testing.
  • Maintain laboratory consumable inventory and assist in ordering, receiving and distributing supplies.
  • Train laboratory personnel on the proper use of reference material, equipment, and methodology.
  • Maintain and document the accuracy of laboratory and plant equipment and assist in coordinating laboratory calibrations.
  • Assist in investigating bulk and consumer complaints.
  • Maintain and distribute certificates of analysis and assist in management of holds/release of product.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications and Masters Gallery Foods standards.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance to maintain adequate staffing levels and meet customer commitments is required.
  • Maintain laboratory and quality-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Lab Supervisor and/or Vice President - Food Safety/Quality Systems and Product Development.

Experience, Skills and Abilities: 

What You Can Offer:

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Food Science, Lab Science, Microbiology, or related field or equivalent
    experience preferred.
  • Two years of previous experience in a food lab is desired.
  • Knowledge of GMP requirements.
  • Knowledge of AOAC approved methods for cheese testing.
  • Good organizational skills and analytical ability.
  • Knowledge of food standard methods.
  • Good decision-making skills regarding quality standards.
  • Knowledge of AOAC approved methods for cheese testing.
  • Ability to provide dual support to our Plymouth and Oostburg operations.

Hours/Employment Type: Full Time
