Job Title: Automation Controls Technician

Description: The Automation Control Technician will install, maintain, diagnose, repair, remove, and adjust controls of instrumentation and electrical circuits and assist with other mechanical duties. This technician will maintain complex systems embodying electronic and electro-mechanical principles including PLC’s, HMI’s, VFD’s, motors, and servos.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow and comply with applicable good manufacturing, safety, and quality assurance practices.
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine how to assemble parts, machines, and other equipment.
  • Use specialized instruments to measure parts and ensure they meet specifications.
  • Test the performance of electromechanical assemblies.
  • Install electronic components using soldering equipment and hand tools.
  • Analyze and record test results and prepare written documentation.
  • Operate, test, and maintain robotic equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understand and troubleshoot electrical control systems.
  • Be able to adjust programs and troubleshoot PLC based systems.
  • Read and interrupt wiring diagrams, schematics, and other written specifications.
  • Have working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
  • Maintain the areas, tools, and equipment in a clean and proper manner
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Procedures, Plant Safety regulations, Quality Control Standards, and Plant policies.
  • Have a working knowledge of basic computer skills.
  • Assemble control panels and connect field instrumentation.
  • Calibrate instrumentation.
  • Integration and commissioning of automated systems.
  • Service, clean, and inspect equipment periodically following established PM's.
  • Have working knowledge of AC/DC distribution systems up to and including 480 v / 3 phase and their corresponding sub systems.
  • Effectively communicate with the operators, mechanics, engineers, and supervisors.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Logix/Studio5000, CX-Programmer, and Aveva System Platform are a plus.

Education/Experience:

  • Associate degree or higher in Electronic, Mechanical, or Instrumentation.
  • Certifications in Industrial Electronics or Telecommunications Electronics Preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a mechanical/maintenance and electro-mechanical role, or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge.

Hours/Employment Type: Full Time

Salary/Wage: Dependent on experience and qualifications - $2000 Hiring Bonus
